Critical Studies in Sound for Moving Image Tuesday 22/10/2019
In this week and with the weekly briefing that we do at the start of every week we went over how we will be soon doing a review and presentation of the work we have done of our soundscapes and what we have done, done so far or going to be soon doing and show off any work we have, i had already decided that i will focus my soundscape on a ambient focused soundscape and linking it to current day topics and meanings, as i choose to do a soundscape of the sounds of the Amazon Rain forest. For this week in the Critical Studies class, we focused a lot of this weeks lesson on the Cold War, Communism at the Atomic Age and what that brought to use like for example, the start of a heavy genre from Japan called Atomic Cinema, such iconic films and franchises that came from that era, the most notable is the Godzilla series (Shin Godzilla). a certain author points out that in the entire human history, the 2 most important things in history is the start and development of Cinema and the Atomic Bomb, with all things, series and impacts they have both made to and then throughout history, i feel very strongly to agree as they are many things that can be pointed out that are good, even though many come from a bad origin, such as the Atomic Bomb. looked at certain papers and publishes,
Atomic Bomb Cinema - Shapire. J. F.
Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder - Bell. J
we went through a good amount of Sci-Fi films and how the films show the contrasts between them and how some were very impactful they are. We also viewed and discussed the differences and the emotions and reactions that big budget films and low budget films give us and the differences they make to use and what our takes and techniques of how they filmed and made them. We also looked into the interesting results of Americanism from war films that connect to and link to Communism's from Nazi Germany and Russia, looking at examples from films from the 50's though to the 80's as well:
The Brain Eaters 1958
Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956
The Blob 1958
War of the Worlds 1953
The Thing 1982
Threads 1984

Studio Lectures Projects 2-3 Thursday 24/10/2019
In this class we went through and explained how important certain effects are and how it is important that we know them and how much they can help us when we are making projects and when and where to use them in the editing/mixing stage. We went over a few effects such as Time Based effect processing, Esoteric Effects processing and also using Impulse Response. I thought this was really important to know these and especially for those again, who haven't used Pro Tools at all or much, this helps explain this and especially for the effects that people may of not have heard of before such like Esoteric Effects.
Studio Lectures Projects 2-3 Friday 25/10/2019
With this lesson, we went into more further details with Time Based Effects and Esoteric Effects and used and shown more examples and ways that they can be used and have been used with examples from small program examples and bigger projects. We were also shown how to set up a full Pro Tools session for a larger Pro Tools Mix down session and with this, we were shown a full large scale session with coloured and named tracks, grouped and playlist settings on tracks and how to properly set the levels, check tracks and mixing the tracks one by one and then balancing them off with each other for the final set levels. This was really insightful and helpful for everyone, even for those who have done this and for those who haven't as it showed how to do and make a session like this on a larger scale and how it is set to the correct and industry standards.
