Noise Making Session 24/01/2020
With my experience and thoughts on the Noise Making class that we had with our lecturer Adam, I thought it was very fun and interesting as a major point and part of the Noise Making session is that we had to bring in every day to day and some unusual item that we do have or can find in our homes and bring them in to see what and if any musical effects and sounds that we could make with them and possibly combine with other items that other people had brought into class. It was cool in many ways to see what the others in the class did bring in, that and see what sounds and possible music with using the items that people brought in and make some of the coolest and unique sounds together and making them into a grouped musical feature. It was very interesting with the what we were asked to bring in and then in multiple takes during the day in 2 different rooms, we played and made whatever nice or unique sounds that the items we brought in could make and see what type of noises they can do, we had different times when we had been put on order groups and played in certain orders one after another and played our objects at different set and asked set levels, as we get signals to play our chosen and specific items and play them at different volume levels and we were signalled at different times to play individually or all at once and rising and lowering levels of volumes. Speaking as well from my experience and view for and during this class, I found it quite enjoyable and think it was a very cool learning experience for those who have and haven’t had as much experience or knowledge of making sounds and effects from day to day objects and making sounds from them and being able to think of ways to turn them into and sounded like another with the use of effects or plugins from a variety of DAWS that people could use, this helps with knowing how to get and make sounds for a various other objects to help sound like them or replace them and being able to know how you can do this really helps with doing Foley projects. It also helps show some or your ideas and personalities to the class as you show what items you bring in and what sounds you can make with them and your also able to see how others do and think the same ways and helps with knowing each other more and helps bring ideas and plans that can be used in the future, for example using items at home to record and change them to sound like something else, it was also fun to see what random noises and possible musical features that we all could make during these class sessions. As a whole and what I hope it was for everyone, I enjoyed it and it was I first time as well doing something like this and it was very fun and engaging to make noises from sounds that people may look at and don’t think something musical could come from it. Some parts I would need some work on and have a setup of more recording equipment that would help with fully capturing every unique sound as we used Adam’s old digital recorder and that had problems being able to fully pickup and capture all of the sounds and frequencies that we were producing and I don’t think everything was able to be captured and especially the quieter objects that people brought in. We did the session for around an hour and a half, so certain parts we did was rushed and on the spot and maybe everyone wasn’t as confident in making and doing sounds and especially when they were picked to only do it themselves in front of everyone, it was overall though and a fun and learning experience.
